Looking for assistance to apply for an L1 Visa?
We help employees and employers to obtain
L1A and L1B visa types for executives, managers and staff members.
Service Details
L1 visas are designed for executives, managers and staff members with specialized knowledge, residents of other countries, who are working for the same company or its branches outside of the US. The relationship between the companies in the US and abroad, looking forward to apply for an L1 visa, should be of parent / affiliate company, branch or subsidiary. Both companies should be active for the entire stay of the employee, and should engage in a systematic exchange of goods and/or services.
There are two types of L1 visa:
- L1A is suitable for managers and executives.
- L1B fits best the employees with specialized knowledge
Regardless of its type, L1 visa is initially granted for three years. Both types can be extended, however the increments differ by visa type. The holders of L1A visa can receive 2-year extensions up to a total of seven years stay in the US. Employees who have the L1B visa can expand their visa to up to five years only. Note, that beyond the maximum limit of the L1 visa types the holder thereof cannot stay in the US.
Luckily, L1 visa is ‘dual intent’, giving the possibility to its holder to seek legal permanent resident status during his/her stay in the US. Among other advantages of L1 visa type is the lack of requirements for the degree of the employee, and the number of petitions to be approved each year is not limited.
However, there are certain restrictions, as well, for both employers and employees. Consult your attorney to learn which type of visa is the most appropriate for you or your employee.
